Blessings to you all my fellow brethren in Christ Jesus. This morning the Lord showed me something thought provoking from the scriptures. We read in John 1:29 that John the baptist saw Christ Jesus coming and the scripture says, John 1:29
[29]The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, Look! There is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world! [Exod. 12:3; Isa. 53:7.].
No doubt John acknowledge Christ Jesus publicly to be the Messiah but interesting enough in Apostle Luke’s account in Luke 7:18-35, the same John privately calls two of his disciples and sends them to the Lord Jesus to ask a very appalling question; ‘Are you the Messiah or shall we wait for another?’
What’s so jaw dropping about this question is that no one would expect John of all people to ask such a thing, yet he did! The reason behind this is because just like you and I, John had certain expectations which he didn’t see met and as a result he started doubting the authenticity of Christ whom he publicly proclaimed!
We meet men/women of God who speak the mysteries of God over our lives, and yet even after seeing the miracles and signs they do, we are left with doubt over their authenticity simply because our expectations are not yet met. We even hear God Himself through visions, dreams and an audible voice but still just because a portion of our expectations are not met we doubt if our prayers are being heard or if the Father will bring the provision into our lives! Furthermore we pray with so much hope and again because it seems to take time or we do not see the manifestation of what we believing God for we shred our faith and think God does not love us at all. The Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 14:30-33 reprimanded and questioned Peter, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’ Imagine Christ Jesus was right there in the clear view or sight of Peter, yet he doubted!
Sons of God may I ask the same question in present-tense, ” O you of little faith, why do you doubt, cos God who promised is faithful?!”
