My beloved brethren in Christ Jesus I hope I find you well wherever you are. It is with heartfelt pain that I write this today. The year is coming to an end and ask yourself if you have truly loved your neighbour as yourself.
I mean let us get real here guys, how many can say this year I went out of my way to think and support someone else’s needs above mine?!
Truth be told most if not all our lives we have been selfish and self-seeking!
How then can we ask God and for Him to give us nations when we are shallow minded to the point of ourselves and immediate family, what of others who will be there for them then!?
As I was playing a certain song that speaks on caring for humanity the Holy Spirit reminded me how Christ questioned Peter’s selfishness. Many of us do not realise that Peter was a selfish disciple. He always would say Lord let ‘me’ come to you if it is you; he would quickly jump out of the boat and run to Jesus without notifying others of the revelation that it’s Jesus; he was quick to speak with understanding (a show off) and rebuked for it!
On this grand finale moment the Lord had to question his selfishness and give him responsibility that he always ran away from.
John 21:15-17
[15]When they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do–with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Feed My lambs.
[16]Again He said to him the second time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Shepherd (tend) My sheep.
[17]He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, instinctive, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]? Peter was grieved (was saddened and hurt) that He should ask him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.
You cannot feed the lamb, shepherd the sheep and again feed the lambs unless you love people. It is your love for others that brings provision in your life. Some of you will remain impoverished because you only think of yourself. You pray and seek blessings for selfish reasons!
Hear me, if you don’t think generations and if you want to be rich for yourself pardon me but you will die a vagabond and a fool. Learn something from scripture: wealth and riches and not given so that you hoard them for yourself, even to Abraham it was said through you shall all nations be blessed. This shows that Abraham was blessed to be a blessing to others. A fair warning on giving, the hand that truly gives does not announce it!
So there you go, make a change in someone’s life this season and don’t tell about it.
