I believe the absence of peace in this world is as a result of the church not standing in it’s place of prayer.
Usually when we turn in to pray as individuals we selfish and always say ‘God me , me , me… ‘
There is nothing wrong in asking for what you need, but prayer that yields great weight is that made on behalf of others, because if you pray for your community; things like robberies, bad services from local authority, and unscrupulous pricing of goods will decline.
Imagine living in a peaceful society where you lack nothing and no one sleeps hungry, where no one sees the colour of the skin but one people.; where there is no corruption or dishonest scales to benefit certain individuals. Yes, it is possible but only if we stop being selfish in prayer and think nations as we bow our knees. Prayer becomes more meaningful when it is no longer just self-centered or family-oriented but nation-based/generation-based.
According to Paul’s letter to Timothy such praying is good, right and it is pleasing and acceptable to God our Saviour.
We read in 1 Timothy 2:1-3
FIRST OF all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,
For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.
For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior.
So let us pray and pray nation-based prayers.
