Depths in Prayer & Study of the WORD.

Blessings to you my fellow brethren in Christ Jesus our Lord. Understand that there are certain levels we have to reach in order to have tangible results when it comes to the things of God. In relation to prayer; praying in line with His will yields result, because scripture says, 1 John 5

  1. And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.
  2. And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.

Brothers and sisters it is very important to know and understand the will of the Father, and His will is His/in His WORD!
Now when it comes to His WORD some of us miss it because I have often heard someone saying, ‘I was reading my bible’, and we tend to take it casually as if the bible is a novel and within two weeks time we would’ve forgotten what we read!
Scripture does not say read your bible but study it!
Something you read you easily forget but something you study sticks with you and adds value!
The Bible cannot be degraded to the category of a newspaper which we read for entertainment purposes or to wind up time. Unless and until we treat the Bible as we do the Biology or Physics subjects we will remain as novices/babies as far as the things of God are concerned!
To emphasize the importance of Bible study and sound knowledge of the Holy scriptures Joshua 1
8.says, This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.

That word meditate comes from the Hebrew word “hagah” to mean study.
We further understand that Paul also encouraged Timothy on the same sentiments and he used a Greek word “spoudazo” to mean do deligence/labour to show yourself approved.
2 Timothy 2

  1. Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
Brothers and sisters how are you showing yourself approved as far as the WORD of God is concerned in comparison to other things you place value on like your career or hobbies?
You and I need to apply these fundamental principles if we seek to see positive growth and change within our lives.
May the Lord help us to do right in accurate prayer and studying of His WORD in Christ Jesus’ Mighty name- Amen!
