The power of a Covenant

My fellow brethren in Christ Jesus greetings to you. Now I read something not just interesting but very powerful from the book of 1 Samuel of loyalty and brotherhood that Jonathan had towards David. Jonathan was Kibg Saul’s son and no mattet how much Saul sought after to kill David, Jonathan was loyal to David. The bible actually says in 1 Samuel 18, Jonathan loved David as his own soul!
1 Samuel 18

  1. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own life.

I’m left questioning today if such brotherhood covenants still exists amongst my generation?
As I read on I found that neither Jonathan nor David never wavered on the covenant they made to each other such that even after Jonathan was murdered David wept bitterly, mourned and fasted together with the children of Israel as to show how much he loved him. Powerfully enough, after David was made king over Israel he took Mephibosheth Jonathan’s son and showed him kindness and peace( 2 Samuel 9:3) , because of the covenant that he had made with Jonathan.
For in 1 Samuel 20

  1. And Jonathan told David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn to each other in the name of the Lord, saying, The Lord shall be between me and you, and between my descendants and yours forever. And Jonathan arose and departed into the city.

Brothers and sisters such is the power of a covenant and you and I need to learn from these two that a covenant no matter what, has to be honored!
In today’s world we lack men or women that can make such covenants and honor them. God made a covenant with Abraham Genesis 22

  1. And in your Seed [Christ] shall all the nations of the earth be blessed and [by Him] bless themselves, because you have heard and obeyed My voice. [Gen. 12:2-3; 13:16; 22:18; 26:4; 28:14; Acts 3:25, 26; Gal. 3:16.], –
and today surely we are all blessed. Now may I ask how many today can say man of God, I can make a deal and stick to it…
I can make a promise and fulfill it…
I can make an agreement and honor it…
Do we have the likes of Jonathans and Davids in our time?
Who amongst us is faithful/ true-hearted to his fellow brother/sister?
May the Lord help us to be found faithful on the day Christ’s return.
