My friend many of us love Lord and want to be in Heaven. We want to live a good life and be blessed of the Lord, but very few of us are prepared to make the necessary sacrifices in order to achieve or accomplish this!
In the book of Luke chapter number 14 the Lord Jesus Christ laid down the process to which we can have the blessings, the good-life found in Christ, and the victorious lifestyle:
Luke 14: he said,
[28]For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
[29]Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
[30]Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
[31]Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
[32]Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
[33]So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
[34]Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
Child of God unless and until you ready yourself to:
- Study God’s word,
- Pray without ceasing
- Pay your tithe,
- Give your offerings & to the needy,
- Preach the gospel of salvation,
- Cast out devils and lay hands on the sick,
- Do good to others,
- Love God and serve only Him;
Then you must begin to do so today as this is the cost of being a true disciple of Christ Jesus.
Alot of us start strong but along the way just as Peter we see the vicissitudes of life (waves & winds), we begin to doubt, complain, slack back, and before you know it we give up all together. One has to be consistent in their walk of faith and there has to be evident growth that is from glory to glory, not from glory to shame. The point of transition in your life has to show progress not regression. There has to be beauty for the ashes you once had. Restoration from the losses you once encountered- a total recovery like Job!
Sit down today and count the cost. How much you invest in the Kingdom of God determines how much you get out of it!
In life if you seeking to buy a car and considering speed and comfort, then be prepared to sit down and count the cost of a luxurious car and fork out alot of money for it. Likewise in the Kingdom of God be prepared to go all the way.
You cannot sit down in a restaurant to have a meal and after eating the meal, when the bill comes you then say I don’t have enough money for it, its beyond my budget now-count the cost before!
Churches have to be built and rent paid, evangelism has to be done for souls to come to Christ, instruments have to be bought and played, the teacher of the gospel has to be well dressed and fed in order for him/her to deliver the message, the church bills have to be paid, and poor families have to be fed including the widows and orphans- ask yourself what’s your part in all this and get ready to count the cost!
The Lord is waiting for you to begin to walk in the obedience of counting the cost. Know what you getting yourself into- commit yourself by counting the cost and investing wisely through:
*Time
*Money
*Resources
For where your treasures are your heart will be also.
