My friend we have a huge responsibility to live our lives in sincerity. Others around reflect on our faith. In 3 John 1:1-5 John writes to Gaius and says, THE ELDERLY elder [of the church addresses this letter] to the beloved (esteemed) Gaius, whom I truly love.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.
In fact, I greatly rejoiced when [some of] the brethren from time to time arrived and spoke [so highly] of the sincerity and fidelity of your life, as indeed you do live in the Truth [the whole Gospel presents].
I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my [spiritual] children are living their lives in the Truth.
Beloved, it is a fine and faithful work that you are doing when you give any service to the [Christian] brethren, and [especially when they are] strangers.
Personally ask yourself what service are you rendering or giving to your fellow Christian. What benefit do they have from you. You have to add value not to yourself but to the next person. In this case Gaius added value to others as Christ added value to us and made us new creatures, as for you what value have you added to the next person or body of Christ at large?
