My friend, we ought to be so conscious that in God we live, in Him we move and in Him we have our being.
Our set time and place of birth and even nationality was by God’s design. We are not of our own that is why we were bought with a price. We were born to be seekers and lovers of God. To yearn after His Presence. To feel incomplete without Christ and only completely fulfilled in Him. (Colossians 2:10)
Everyone of us even our ancestors where born worshippers; the only things that’s of distinction was to “who” do we render our worship?
In a bid to find a god to worship, within our various African cultures; we turned to totems and ancestral worship began, to hallow animals and the dead to represent a god when in actual fact there is but One God. Paul meets a certain group of worshippers and reveals to them the Only One True GOD. From the Jews came forth the revealing of this [Mysterious GOD] as was said that, “salvation comes from the Jews.” (Read John 4)
Here’s Paul’s explanation.
Acts 17:24-28 The God Who produced and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade shrines.
Neither is He served by human hands, as though He lacked anything, for it is He Himself Who gives life and breath and all things to all [people]. [Isa. 42:5.]
And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes),
So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us.
For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own] poets have said, For we are also His offspring.
When you read this further he expounds that which God is not and that everything which was done in ignorance God has ignored and let it pass but now He commands everyone everywhere to repent( change your mind and heartily amend your ways with abhorrence of past sins).
God is a jealous God and shares not His glory with any other.
It is the reverence fear of the Lord where wisdom begin.
It is in worshipping ONLY GOD where wisdom
begins. God is not ancestral spirits or totems, He is Sovereign and Holy and can never be likened to creation of any sort cos He is the Creator.
