Today as we celebrate women’s day may I take time to speak about sexual abuse against women and especially the girl child. A few days ago I was saddened to learn that a 14 year old girl who was impregnated by a man old enough to be his grandfather died due to labour complications in Zimbabwe. Now to some cultures it is normal for a teenage to be dating and sleeping around but acxording to the law of God its sin. Sex outside marriage is sin no matter how much you to try to sugar coat it to look permissible. Just because many are doing it that doesn’t mean its right and just because you weren’t the first to do it, it doesn’t give you the license to sin. The bible warns us and says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality,
Nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.
We need to teach our communities purity and mothers let us speak to our daughters and fathers our sons about sex and sexual immorality.(Sex education). The bible says in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it. [Eph. 6:4; II Tim. 3:15.]
It is the duty of a parent to train the child not the teacher or peers or TV or the internet.
I say No to child marriages and No to sexual immorality. As the church let us take an initiative to educate the world as we are the salt and light of the world.
