My friend, where you seek your counsel and who your associates are does matter. Bad company surely will affect our good morals and we end up polluted, saltless, dim.
Psalm 1 says
BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.
The danger in following the advices, the plans, and purposes of the ungodly my friend is that it leads to destruction/trouble.
Once you become an associate or friend of a thief you are deemed a suspect if there is a robbery, you are considered an accomplice no matter how innocent you might be.
2 Corinthians 6:14-17
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?
What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial [the devil]? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?
What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.(3)
So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor,(4)
Understand this in as much as there is blessings by association there is also curses by association.
